Applications will be accepted from applicants who:
- Identify as an ‘emerging’ or ‘early career’ artist, and have not had access to similar opportunities*;
- Are over 21 (there is no upper age limit);
- Are not enrolled on or participating in a full-time or part-time undergraduate, postgraduate or similar programme during the opportunity dates;
- Are based in the UK, including UK nationals and those with the right to work in the UK;
- And haven't been part of New Contemporaries exhibition programme before.
*Everyone's artistic journey is different, but by these we mean that this opportunity is intended for artists that may have never participated in an artist residency; had a solo exhibition at a publicly funded gallery; or be currently represented by a commercial gallery.
At New Contemporaries we welcome applications from everyone and particularly encourage applications from artists who are currently underrepresented in the visual arts.
Selection Criteria
The selection will be made by representatives from both organisations and will be based on the following criteria:
- The creative ambition of your work and ideas
- Your need for the opportunity
