New Contemporaries Studio Residency at FormaHQ

–
James Jordan Johnson is the current recipient of the New Contemporaries Studio Residency at FormaHQ.
Working in performance, film, photography and sound, James is interested in the spiritual state of witnessing, and how it can allow for reconsidering truth as a means of relativity when the everyday is observed and recalled. His work is grounded in Caribbean articulations of material and ecological belief systems. James, born and living in London, graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2025.
The New Contemporaries Studio Residency at FormaHQ comprises of a fully funded studio space for 12 months in Bermondsey, London between October 2025 and September 2026, dedicated curatorial and communications support from both New Contemporaries and Forma, as well as access to Forma’s AV equipment and bookable spaces.
This opportunity is funded by Arts Council England.
