New Contemporaries Studio Residency at FormaHQ

–
James Jordan Johnson is the current recipient of the New Contemporaries Studio Residency at FormaHQ.
Working across performance, film, photography and sound, James explores the spiritual state of witnessing and how it can reshape ideas of truth through the observation and recollection of everyday life. His practice is grounded in Caribbean material and ecological belief systems. Born and based in London, James graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2025.
The New Contemporaries Studio Residency at FormaHQ offers a fully funded studio space in Bermondsey, London for 12 months (October 2025–September 2026), alongside dedicated curatorial and communications support from New Contemporaries and Forma, and access to Forma’s AV equipment and bookable spaces.
This opportunity is funded by Arts Council England.
