Applications open 23 February – 30 March 2026 for our Artist Development Programme

Our open call for artists runs from 23 February to 30 March 2026. Selected artists will join our Artist Development Programme from September 2026, culminating in a group exhibition at Focal Point Gallery, Southend-on-Sea, opening in June 2027.

This opportunity is open to anyone who considers themselves an emerging or early career artist aged 21 or over based in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales. There are no strict requirements around education, training, upper age limit, or career path.

Our Artist Development Programme runs from September 2026 – June 2027 and includes mentoring, peer networking, workshops, talks and exhibiting as part of a major group exhibition at Focal Point Gallery as well as the opportunity to contribute to their public and digital programmes. Artists receive a fee, travel and accommodation bursary to attend events, and an opportunity to sell work as part of the exhibition.

We actively encourage applications from artists who are underrepresented in the sector, including those who experience barriers linked to ethnicity, class, disability, gender and sexuality.
