Trustee Recruitment

We’re looking for a Co-Chair and two new Trustees to join our Board at a pivotal moment for New Contemporaries, as we begin an ambitious new phase of growth, national partnership and artist-centred activity. This is an opportunity to help shape the future of one of the UK’s leading organisations supporting emerging and early career artists.

Board members play an important role in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction, supporting financial sustainability, and championing emerging artistic practice.

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Support the next generation of artists at a critical stage in their careers
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of a nationally recognised organisation
  • Work alongside a committed Board and executive team
  • Engage with artists, curators and institutions across the UK
  • Apply your expertise to support a resilient and ambitious organisation

This is a chance to make a meaningful contribution to the cultural sector while gaining insight into the governance and development of a dynamic arts organisation at a pivotal moment in our development.

We are seeking people with the time and willingness to support fundraising and build meaningful connections, alongside strong knowledge of the UK arts landscape, curatorial expertise, and experience in organisational change, capital development and growth. We’re particularly interested in future-facing changemakers with the ambition and drive to help shape new models of working and support the next generation of artists.

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board and actively encourage applications from individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, particularly those currently underrepresented within the cultural sector, and we welcome applications from people across the UK.

Apply before 12pm Friday 12 June 2026.
