The series of Found Paintings won the 1998 Pebeo International Painting competition

Art Gallery Manchester, Atlas Manchester and the Arts Council of England.
Ben Cook's Found Paintings are reappropriated fabrics originally destined for the manufacture of football shirts. Flawed during their production, the artist selects these mistakes and by stretching them onto a support, the misaligned prints, creases, and failing ink jet traces take on the language of painting. Rejects are salvaged to make works of value.
Notes from conversations on the artists' work held at different times between Keith Tyson, Sacha Craddock and Simon Morrisey and between Susan Hiller, Sacha Craddock and Des lawrence.
